UNDERSTANDING FILLER DISSOLVING
Filler dissolving commonly refers to using hyaluronidase to reduce hyaluronic acid (HA) filler. It is not a universal filler remover. Knowing what was injected, where, and when is an important part of assessing your options.
Use of hyaluronidase to dissolve dermal filler is off-label in the United States. Your provider will explain its limitations, potential benefits, and risks, including allergic reactions and an unpredictable degree of volume change.
Bring previous treatment dates, product names, and records if available.
Explain what you are noticing, how it has changed, and what outcome you hope for.
Assessment may lead to observation, dissolving, further evaluation, or referral.

RECOVERY & FOLLOW-UP
More than one assessment or treatment may be needed. Swelling can make the early result difficult to judge. Follow your review plan, and avoid assuming that dissolving will precisely restore your appearance before filler.
Possible risks include swelling, bruising, tenderness, and allergic reactions, which can be serious. Reduction may be incomplete or greater than expected.
Seek immediate medical attention for vision changes, severe or unusual pain, or pale, gray, or blue skin after filler. Trouble breathing or signs of a severe allergic reaction also require emergency care.
A LITTLE CLARITY
No. Hyaluronidase acts on HA. It is not a reversal agent for Radiesse, Sculptra, or permanent fillers. Unknown products require particular care.
A partial reduction may be discussed, but the amount of change is not perfectly predictable. Your provider will explain what can and cannot be controlled.
A new filler plan should wait until your provider has reassessed the area and any swelling or underlying concern. Timing depends on your clinical situation.
New vision changes, severe or unusual pain, or pale, gray, or blue skin after filler need immediate medical attention. Do not wait for a routine dissolving consultation.
